Volkswagen Jetta Cruise Control Pump

Q. Hi, I'm been trying to find an answer to a troubleshooting problem that I'm having with my 1995 Volkswagen Jetta GL. My cruise control stopped working. I barely used it in the first place so wasn't sure what could have happened. The vacuum system has no leaks and checking the electrical system, all the switches work good and I have good power to the control module.

I have it down to the vacuum pump or the module but using the Bentley manual, it does not explain how the pump works. It has three wires to the pump but I'm not sure if Volkswagen spells out a procedure to check the pump.

Can I bypass the module and apply power to a specific pin and get the pump running. Tried calling the dealership but no joy, they want to fix it. Would you have any more information or know where I could find information on trouble shooting the cruise control system.

Thanks,
Steve

A. As you can see in the diagram, if you apply power to the green/red wire and ground the black wire, the vacuum pump should run.
