"Change Oil"

Q. How do I "reset" or "clear" the dash board indicator light that says "Change Oil" in a 1996 Buick Roadmaster? Recently bought the car and can't find the manual. So far I have had recommendations to "look in the glove box for a reset button", I did, there's not, and "just disconnect one of the battery terminals, wait a few minutes, then reconnect it".

Don't won't to do this for fear of "goofing up the computer". Since it's reasonable to assume some owners will elect to change there own oil, I must assume there is a method to clear this indicator light without needing a dealer, or a code gizmo. Can you help?

Thanks a lot, youv'e got a terrific site.
