Geo Prizm Vibration
Q. Hi, I just bought a 1993 Geo Prizm. 4-cylinder 1600 engine with fuel injection. ABS, P/S, A/C. 3-speed automatic transmission, 150,000 miles on it. It wasn't annoying when I test drive the car, but I realized that the car has some acceleration problems. While driving, if I push the gas a little bit more, I can feel the vibration coming from the engine.
As I keep my foot on the gas, I can drive as fast as 70-80 MPH with no problem unless I push the gas more. It feels like I'm driving a 5-speed car rump up in fifth gear, but there is no noise. The car was checked by Jiffy Lube (engine, transmission, and radiator were flushed), and another shop (they replaced struts and tires, and told me it didn't even need any tune-up.) What could be the reason you think?
Thanks a lot...
A. I think you are trying to describe a drive line vibration. Possibly bad axle shafts or weak/broken/collapsed engine mounts.
