Column Removal

WARNING: See shift linkage cable and drive gear identification cable removal procedure on next page.

If the steering column is removed and dropped to the floor board and failure to remove the above mention items could break the drive indicator cable.

There at two large bolts (1) and (2) holding the steering column in place going up into the underside of the dash. Remove these two screws and at the bottom of the steering column shaft are two more.

There at two large bolts holding the steering column in place going up into the underside of the dash. Remove these two screws and at the bottom of the steering column shaft are two more.

Behind the jacket and bowl assemble is a cover. Remove the one screw (3) holding it in place.

Do not allow the steering column shaft to fall to the floor. There is a fishing line looking cable that goes to the drive, reverse, park position indicator to the right of the speedometer.

The transmission shift cable must be removed first, then this fishing line. See next page for details.
