Checking Vehicle Repair Histories

Q. Do you know of any good/excellent web sites that rate the repair/service histories of cars BY MAKE AND MODEL? I'm considering buying one of a number of used cars, and would like to be able to check a particular model and brands overall service ranking and ratings.

Checking Vehicle Repair Histories

History of component failures, recalls, things a used car buyer would like to know before buying a particular brand and model. Being able to look up the service rankings and ratings of a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant for instance.

Thank you in advance for your Reply.

A. You can go to Edmunds and see what they have.

You can browse the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's web site where you can find automobile safety information, auto crash testing, statistics, recalls and more.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety web site where you can compare frontal offset and side impact crash test results as well as Injury, Collision & Theft Losses and Fatality rates for different cars.

Of course if you want to check a specific vehicle, there is always CarFax
