A Whistling Vauxhall Corsa SXI

Q. Hi, can you help me with my 2005 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2i SXI, manual transmission with 526 miles. The car is fine at high speeds with not a lot of noise. But when I rev the engine and the revs slow down and when I am driving and I slow down at lights in any gear I get a high frequency noise similar to a whistler which it didn't do when I first got the car over a week ago.

I taken it back to the garage and they said that there is nothing wrong with it or they can't hear what I am hearing. My cousin bought the same car and his doesn't make this noise. Any help with this would be great.

Thanks...

A. It's difficult for me to diagnose a noise such as this in this venue. Since it is a new vehicle I would take it back to the Vauxhall Dealer and speak to the Service Manager. Tell him you want to take a technician for a road test to show him exactly the noise you are referring to and under what conditions it happens.

Once they hear the noise they will have an idea what it is and how to repair it.

Keep in mind since this is a brand new vehicle, the noise may go away on it's own after a while. But I wouldn't count on it and still take it back. This way if something does happen down the road, it will be documented and on record.
