Jeep Grand Cherokee Auto Start

Q. Here is a dilemma, My wife's car is a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. To help her out, I had installed an auto start system two years ago. It died and we had to have the Jeep towed, would not start. They took the auto start system out. Went to a second installer, whose system was $125.00 more and he guaranteed that he never had any problems with any installations.

His first system died, and the Jeep was towed. He put in system number two and we had problems. It turns out that this model of Jeep had a locking system that would not allow anyone from driving the Jeep, unless you cycled it to UNLOCK with a remote. He told me that there is no way to bypass the Jeep's factory installed locking system.

So every now and then it dies, we reach into the console well and take out the old remote, and then it is okay for awhile. Is there no way, other than Jeepacide to stop this from happening again?

Vic

A. As far as I know, there is no way to bypass the system short of reprogramming the Alarm Module. The locking and security was designed NOT to be bypassed. I'm not even sure if you disabled the power lock system if that would work. You can give it a try and see what happens.

You might also try unplugging the alarm module and see what that does.
