Dodge Ram 1500 No Heat, ABS Light

Q. I have 2 different questions that I need to know the answer to.

  1. I recently had the water pump replaced and now the heater is not heating properly. I can drive to work, about 15 miles, and all that it will blow is lukewarm air.

The engine temperature seems to be at the proper temperature and the blower works properly as well. Is there anything that I can do to increase the temp of the heat coming out?

  1. Also, the parking brake light and the ABS light stays on all the time in the truck, what do I need to check?

I have a:

  • 1998 Dodge Ram 1500
  • 5.2 liter V-8
  • Manual transmission
  • 59,000 miles
  • ABS brakes
  • P/S, A/C and cruise

Thank you,
Scott

A. 1. The first thing I would do is install a new engine thermostat. That should fix you right up.

2. You will need to pull the codes from the Antilock Brake Controller (CAB). Chrysler only provides a procedure to pull ABS Codes with a Chrysler Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB) scan tool. There are no procedures provided by Chrysler to pull ABS codes with a generic scan tool or any other procedure besides using the Chrysler DRB.
