Dodge Spirit DTCs 11 And 21 Q. Vincent, 1993 Dodge Spirit showing codes 11 and 21. I know what the codes are but could you give me a little more detail as to where to start looking. This car has a 2.5 liter engine, automatic transmission and 120,000 miles. Idles okay, but has problems running when put into DRIVE or REVERSE. Thanks for your time. Joe

A. DTC 11 is "IGN reference signal" which means that no distributor reference signal was detected during engine cranking. DTC 11 usually indicates a bad Crankshaft Position sensor (CKP), bad PCM or a problem in the CKP circuit.

DTC 21 is "Oxygen sensor signal" which means that neither a rich or lean condition is detected from the oxygen sensor input. DTC 21 usually indicates a bad Oxygen (O2) sensor or an open in the O2 sensor circuit.
