Ford Aerostar No Horn, No Cruise

Q. Hi Vince, I have a 1992 Ford Aerostar van. The cruise control and the horn aren't working, I understand they are somehow connected. I've checked the fuse but it's good. What else should I look at? Any help you can offer will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Janey

Ford Aerostar No Horn, No Cruise

A. The horn and cruise control are two separate systems. The only thing they have in common is they both go through the clockspring assembly in the steering wheel. So if I had to make a guess, that is where you will find the problem.

The clockspring assembly is mounted on the steering column, behind the steering wheel. The clockspring assembly carries electrical signals from the steering column through the steering wheel contact to the driver air bag, horn, and speed control.
