Dodge D150 Rear Axle Swapping

Q. I'm wondering if the 8¼" rear axle assembly with ABS on a 1990 Dodge D150 RWD will work in my 1988 Dodge D100 RWD without 8¼" rear axle assembly. Everything seems to measure out the same. Only difference I can see is the ABS gear on the 1990 model. Would you have an opinion on this?

Thanks ahead for any info.
Bob

Dodge D150 Rear Axle Swapping

A. Well, you know what they say about opinions Bob...

I have never tried the particular swap you're talking about so I can't tell you from experience if it will work or not. I checked the part numbers for the two trucks and they are different. But that's probably due to the ABS.

My thinking is it should fit since the basic mounting is the same. What you can do is call a junk yard and check with them to be sure. They have complete interchange books that will tell exactly what year, make and model a particular part will fit.
