Honda Accord Has No Clutch Pedal

Q. I have a 1989 Honda Accord. The clutch got stuck when I pressed it down. When the car is off I can move the gears from one through five and reverse. But when the car is on, I can not move the gears anywhere. What do you think the problem is and what should I do?

Honda Accord Has No Clutch Pedal

A. Your vehicle has one of two types of clutch activation, cable or hydraulic. It sounds to me like the clutch cable has broken.

Honda Accord Has No Clutch Pedal

If your particular vehicle has a hydraulic clutch, then it could be a bad clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder or the fluid has all leaked out.

If the cable or hydraulic system checks out okay, then you will need to pull the transmission and replace the clutch assembly.
