Ford Bronco Bad Blower Motor?

Q. 1983 Ford Bronco with factory A/C. I have very little air coming through my vent from the blower. When I change the speed on the climate control it does increase with each setting, but the high setting is not much air blowing through. Would you look at the blower itself or is there another route you would take to figure out the problem? Let me know what you think.

Thanks...
Lorin

Ford Bronco Bad Blower Motor?

A. I'm assuming you mean little or no air is coming out of the dash or floor vents. There is nothing short of a physical blockage that would stop air from moving through the HVAC box. So I have to say the problem is one with the vacuum controls. In this system when vacuum is lost, and assuming everything else is working, all air flow is directed to the defroster vents.

This is a fail-safe to insure the windshield will be clear of fog and mist. If I'm right, and I think I am, then we have to look at the vacuum supply to the HVAC system.

There is a vacuum line that runs from the intake manifold to a storage tank, through the firewall and into the heater control panel. I would check the vacuum line and storage tank for proper connections and ensure there are no cracks or breaks.

If everything up to the firewall is good, then you'll need to get under the dash and check the line from the firewall to the heater control panel. If that is good then you probably have a bad heater control.
