Ford E-150 Gas To Diesel Swap?

Q. Hi; I am a seventy five year old, handicapped retiree with very limited income. I have presented my question to several people and received no definitive answer. I have two vehicles, one is a 1993 Ford E-150 conversion van, powered with a 5.0 liter V-8 engine and a four speed automatic transmission. This vehicle still serves me well although it has over 170,000 miles on it.

Ford E-150 Gas To Diesel Swap?

The other is a Class C Motor Home built on a 1985 E-350 Ford Chassis and powered with a 6.9 liter International Diesel engine with a three speed automatic transmission with less than 55,000 miles. It performs perfectly although the camper itself needs a lot of repairs.

My question is, is it possible, or economically feasible to transfer the Diesel engine to my E-150 Van? Also, will the Diesel bolt up to the four speed transmission? I have a great need for the E-150 and can in no way afford a new one. Also, I hate the idea of discarding a vehicle that has an engine that would probably be serviceable for a great many miles.

Your comments, or any information, will be greatly appreciated.

A. I hate to say this but the engine swap you have in mind won't work. The diesel will not go into the !993 E-150 and the transmission would not bolt up to the four speed transmission even if it did.
