Nissan Altima GXE ABS Light Is On
Q. Hi, I have 1997 Nissan Altima GXE. It's running currently 109,000 miles plus. Lately I have started getting ABS light on the dash board. I can easily go to a Nissan Service center to fix this. But the funny things is that it lights up only during the night and not on all nights.
So, I am not sure what to do with it. This may look weird, but I am telling you the truth. So, I am not sure whether I should go to some service station and my actual worry is that what if the light does not come during their test?
To give the full info, my power steering oil has a leak. So, I regularly fill the power steering fluid whenever it goes below the level or near the lower level. Does this have any link to ABS problem? Have you had faced any problems like this?
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
SheikA. We will need to do a self diagnostic on the ABS system to see what is causing the ABS warning light to come on. To start the self-diagnostic results mode, ground the self-diagnostic (check) terminal located on the Data Link Connector (DLC) . The location of the malfunction is indicated by the warning lamp flashing on the instrument panel. See procedure and code chart below.
The power steering leak, probably a leaking power steering rack which is common for this vehicle, should have no effect on the ABS system.
And that it only comes on at night, could it be that during the day you don't notice it and in the dark it stands out better?
