Weird Isuzu Trooper Lighting Problem

Q. I have a 1999 Isuzu Trooper with 96,000 miles. My problem is when it gets real cold outside the lights tend to come on by themselves and drain the battery. Do you have any clue on what could be causing this?

Thanks,
Robbie

Weird Isuzu Trooper Lighting Problem

A. This is a new one on me! Weird!!!

I guess I would have to suspect the headlight switch. I would expose the connector at the headlight switch and when it happens, see if there is power at the yellow and red/yellow wires of the headlight switch. If there is, unplug the headlight switch and if the lights go out, I would replace the headlight switch.

The headlight switch provides the ground for the lights so I think it the most likely cause of the problem.
