Inductive AC/DC Amp Pickup Tools Q. Amazing how you can check DC with an inductive pickup. These clamp on ammeters are for AC only and as far as I know, most vehicles use DC only. I know there are some clamp on ammeters that can be used for DC, but they are expensive.

A. I don't know if this is a question or a comment, but I bought a clamp-on amp probe from Snap-On Tools many years ago that does AC and DC amp readings. I've used it for measuring starter current draw and parasitic current draw. It is similar to this one and, I think, is reasonably priced.

I'm sure you can find one at a Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack even cheaper.
