Ford Explorer Slipping 3-4 Shift

Q. I have a 2002 Ford Explorer with 47,000 miles, 4.0 liter V-6, automatic transmission, 2WD and just today it started to act up when it shifts into 3rd gear, the rpm's will rise and you can fell that it is slipping. You can let of the accelerator and it will shift in to 4th gear and then it does just fine until you slow down.

Jeep Wrangler Doesn't Go Into Gear

Is there a sensor or a valve that can be cleaned or replaced to correct this problem?

Thanks...

A. About all you can do is try replacing the transmission filter. It is possible it is partially clogged. Drop the transmission pan, replace the filter and refill the transmission. Do NOT get a transmission flush unless you are prepared to buy a new transmission. Just fill it to the proper level.
