Mazda B2300 Losing Transmission Fluid
Q. I have a 1994 Mazda B2300 pickup and lately the transmission fluid has been low but nothing under the truck or on the ground gives any indication that it is leaking. Could it be burning the fluid and what is the modulator and is it expensive to replace? Or could there be another problem?
Leon
A. The transmission modulators on these transmissions are a little too close to the exhaust system. So they are prone to getting hot and the diaphragm inside them cracks and allows transmission fluid to be sucked into the intake manifold through the vacuum line.
Mazda recognized this as a problem and has come out with an improved modulator and a heat shield to protect it.
Here is the parts you will need to do the job.
