Mazda B2200 Hesitant Starter
Q. I bought it new. Problem: Truck sits overnight or for several hours, insert key, turn. The starter engages, starts to turn the flywheel, you then get a lull, like a weak or dead spot in the starter, the starter still turns the engine and the engine starts. I replaced the OEM starter with a new one from AutoZone, it did the same thing. I replaced that one with a new one from AutoZone, it does the same thing.
However, after you start it the first time, it will not do it again until it has set for a long time. Had the alternator tested okay, battery okay, checked the ground wires okay. What's up?

Thanks,
BillA. I think it's the battery. I would do a full load test and a cell test. I'm almost sure the cell test will show at least one bad or weak cell.
If the battery is 4 or more years old, I would recommend replacing it.
