Intake Air Sensor (IAT) Modification?
Q. Hi, I have a question regarding the Intake Air Sensor (IAT). There are aftermarket modification that says it increases HP. They cost about $30.00 There as to be something wrong about it? Can you explain?
Thanks,
BalajiA. Basically all it does is fool the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) into thinking the incoming air is colder than it actually is. This would make the PCM richen the fuel mixture.
All this device is is a two cent resistor in a fancy package. Yes, it may increase horsepower but, to my mind, it is simply not worth it.
