Honda Accord Door Latch Problems

Q. Hello Vincent, I caught this message, Honda Accord Driver Door Won't Open, on your site, and I have a similar problem with my 1990 Honda Accord EXR. I have also removed the door panel and all the rods appear to be working properly. My question is; how do I get the door open so the latch can be replaced? I’m told it has to be drilled out from the inside in order to open the door?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Mike

Honda Accord Door Latch Problems

A. You have to grab the actuator rod with a pair of pliers and move it forward to release the latch assembly. It takes some force to pull that rod forward. Releasing the latch and opening the door is the only way to get to the attaching screws.

If that actuator rod won't move, then you can try moving the rod from the outside door handle to the latch assembly. If it still won't open, then we have a serious problem. At this point you've done all you can do and I would suggest taking it to the Dealer or a body shop.
