Ford Mustang Accelerator Pedal Slack
Q. I have a 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe with a V-6 engine, auto transmission and 35,000 miles. My gas pedal seems like it is close to the floor then it should be. If I flick up the gas pedal with my hands it flicks up easily and seems very loose. I popped open the hood and found where it was connected.
If I pull the cable tighter, the pedal levels out to where it should normally be. I'm not sure how to tighten it and was wondering if you could help.
A. The Throttle Cable/Linkage is not adjustable. All you can do is replace it.
Before doing that however, I would recommend inspecting the accelerator pedal assembly underneath the dash board to insure it moves freely and is not binding.
