Chevy Cavalier A/C Alternatives? Q. I have a 1995 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 liter with 119,000 miles, but I think that may be irrelevant. My A/C went out and they told me the core would have to be replaced, which is way outside my budget. I live in the desert and it's way too hot to go without some sort of relief. I've seen dash mount, cigarette lighter plugged in defrosters.

Is there anything similar for a cooling alternative? The spray bottles and battery powered fans just aren't cutting it.

A. Sorry. You are going to have to decide if staying cool is going to be in the "budget" this year. Anything short of a proper repair is most likely going to ruin your car!
