Replacing Cadillac Catera Headlights

Q. Good morning, Could you please tell me the easiest way to replace the headlight bulbs on a 1998 Cadillac Catera?

Replacing Cadillac Catera Headlights

A. You didn't mention which side, but here is how to replace both sides. At some point you will need to replace both sides.

Drivers Side

REMOVAL PROCEDURE:

Replacing Cadillac Catera Headlights
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Unscrew the self-locking tab on the left side radiator cover.
  3. Unclip the left side radiator cover from the body to remove the left side radiator cover.
  4. Remove the battery.
  5. Remove the rubber protective cover from the back of the headlamp to reveal the bulb.
Replacing Cadillac Catera Headlights
  1. Separate the bulb fastening tangs (1).
  2. Carefully remove the bulb.
  3. Remove the electrical connection from the bulb.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

  1. Install the electrical connection to the bulb.
  2. Snap the fastening tang (1) in place to install the bulb.
  3. Install the rubber protective cover to the back of the headlamp.
  4. Install the battery.
  5. Seat the tab to the body of the left side radiator cover.
  6. Secure the left side radiator cover by turning the self-locking tab.
  7. Close the hood.
  8. Reprogram the applicable accessories.

Passenger Side

REMOVAL PROCEDURE:

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Unscrew the self-locking tab on the right side radiator cover.
  3. Unclip the right side radiator cover from the body to remove the right side radiator cover.
  4. Remove the rubber protective cover from the back of the headlamp to reveal the bulb.
  5. Separate the bulb fastening tangs (1).
  6. Carefully remove the bulb.
  7. Remove the electrical connection from the bulb.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

  1. Install the electrical connection to the bulb.
  2. Snap the fastening tang (1) in place to install the bulb.
  3. Install the rubber protective cover to the back of the headlamp.
  4. Seat the tab to the body of the right side radiator cover.
  5. Secure the right side radiator cover by turning the self-locking tab.
  6. Close the hood.
