Nissan Sentra Missing Fan Speed
Q. Hi, 1996 Nissan Sentra. Can you point me in the direction of which component has failed for subject problem? The #1 fan speed worked up to last week and stopped altogether. I tried the other climate control fan speeds, #2, #3, and #4 and they all function correctly. I do prefer #1 fan speed because it is very quiet.
Is the fan control circuitry simply a variable voltage regulator whose bias circuit is switched by the user control knob switch to the four different preset resistor biases?
I'd like to repair the fault if this is the case. The observed response when turning the fan speed switch to the #1 position are:
- There is no fan air discharged.
- The engine idle changes to accommodate the increased electrical load.
- The permissively of air conditioning is allowed.
Any help would be appreciated. My sister has the same problem with her Dakota truck by Dodge, except all speeds don't work except for #4, the highest speed.
Thanks,
CurtisA. The blower motor resistor is located under the blower motor on the right side of the dash. Once you remove the under dash panel you will see it.
In the Dodge Dakota the blower motor resistor is located under the hood, on the right side firewall.
