Hyundai Elantra's Drum Brake Dust Cap Q. My Hyundai Elantra's drum brake's dust cap can't be removed. What tool required me to remove it?

A. There are a special pair of pliers to remove the dust caps from wheel hubs. They are called Hub & Dust Cap Pliers. They ran about $34.00 a pair. The flat jaws fit between the dust cap and the hub. Then, using a levering action, you can remove the dust cap. One end has a pry bar for getting those stubborn caps off as well. The Dust Cap Pliers protect the dust cap from being bent and deformed, unlike Channel Locks®. If the dust cap proves to be more stubborn than the tool can handle, you can always poke a hole in the end and rip it out with a large screwdriver or pry bar. They are cheap and easy to get.
