Chevy Blazer DTC P1886

Q. I have a 1995 Chevy Blazer with the code "P1886 4X4 Initialization Failure". It also shows up as "Shift Timing Solenoid" problem. It shifts hard, doesn't shift and related problems. I can't find a "Shift Timing Solenoid" in any GM parts info.

Thanks,
Hammy

A. Just wondering how you got that code, what kind/brand of scanner? This code doesn't sound familiar. I would think anything related to 4x4 timing would be in the transfer case encoder motor, not the transmission. This transmission has had some valve body issues though. So much so that GM has remanufactured ones available with an exchanged old one.

DTC P1886 3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit. if this is the only code stored, then it is almost certainly a bad 3-2 solenoid inside the transmission.
