Chevy Lumina Euro Cooling Fan

Q. I have a 1994 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1 liter engine, automatic transmission with 125,000 miles. Fuel injected, ABS brakes, P/S, A/C and cruise control. The cooling fan will not come on unless you turn on the A/C. I suspect a cooling fan sensor, but I can't find it. What do you think is the problem? And where is the cooling fan sensor?

Chevy Lumina Euro Cooling Fan

A. Is it overheating? The fan doesn't come on until 225°!! Most of the time, you can leave one of these running for an hour without the fan coming on. I'm pretty sure this setup uses the same coolant temp sensor as the ECM uses. The ECM then tells the cooling fan relay to come on.
