Hyundai Sonata Timing Problems Q. My name Is Dustin. Well I am having a hard time timing my car. I have a 1995 Hyundai Sonata. Is there tips on helping me? I can't find plug for the screwdriver to go in. I put the belt on and it fire up one second. That all I got out of it than no more. So what should I do now? I have money to put it the shop. I have done lot of timing before but not like this. I have try and try over and over so please help me out. Thank you, Dustin

A. You must have great faith in me, so much so you didn't feel it necessary to tell me what engine you have in there. I'm good but I can't read minds.

In any case, if you started and ran the engine with the timing belt on wrong, the chances you bent the valves are almost 100%.

You can go to the public library and look up the timing marks in the Chilton or Motors manual.
