GMC ½-ton C1500 Stuck Exhaust Pipes

Q. I own a 1994 GMC ½-ton C1500 truck with a 350 engine. I am changing the exhaust pipe, muffler, and tail pipe. My question is the exhaust pipe which is connected to the pipe that is connected to the catalytic converter is connected by two screws which I have taken out but I still cannot get it apart.

What else is holding it together? I have used WD40 thinking it was rust but I believe there is more than what I can see. Please give me thoughts.

Thanks...

A. Just give it a whack with a hammer. Be sure to hit the side you are replacing! It should pop off, just rusted on there. You could also drive something wedge shaped in between the two flanges.
