Chevy Suburban Hesitation
Q. Vince, I have an 1984 Chevy Suburban that I've, basically, rebuilt mechanically. I bought it with 95,000 and a very solid engine but that's about all. At least the oil was changed regularly. I've changed the Quadrajet, distributor springs and vacuum advance, plug wires, cap, rotor, and plugs and adjusted the timing. It seems that about 11° BTDC is the best place.
I still get a very slight hesitation when I barely step on the gas, such as driving around in parking lots and such when all you want is to just barely go. If I step on it, under normal driving I don't get the hesitation. Got any ideas?
Thanks,
David
Waxahachie, TXA. Try unplugging the hose to the EGR valve and see if your problem goes away. This is an emissions device and helps lower NOx gases in the exhaust stream. The valve may be opening too much, too soon. If so, you could try cleaning it but I doubt that will solve problem. It would need replacing.
