Plymouth Grand Voyager Head Gasket Q. Hi I am inquiring as to approximate cost to replace a blown head gasket on a 1999 Grand Voyager. My daughter is on a tight budget and needs quick guess to make sure the estimate she has gotten is reasonable. A quick answer would be appreciated, she has no wheels. Thank you, Marvin

A. An engine size would have been a tremendous help here. So I'm going to assume it is the 3.8 liter V-6. The other engines would be comparable.

The labor to replace both head gaskets would be 9.5 hours. Head gasket kits, which will include new valve seals and all the gaskets to do the job would run about $150.00 to $175.00. Sending the head out to be machined, about $100.00 to $125.00. Fluids and oil and filter change, about $40.00 to $50.00.

So, based on $65.00 an hour labor rate, we're in the neighborhood of $900.00 to $1,000.00, worst case.
