Mercedes Benz E320 Cooling Flush
Q. Hello Mr. Vince Ciulla. Would like to ask you the question. How I may flush and clean the coolant system on my 2000 Mercedes Benz E320 after I drain out the coolant from the radiator and on the engine block? What would I need to do next? Would you please tell me how?
A. Without a flush machine you will not be able to do that good a job flushing the cooling system. If the anti-freeze that was in there was a good color and with no rust evident at the filler neck, I would just drain out the coolant and replace it with a new 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze.
If you want to try and flush it anyway, I would drain the coolant through the radiator and block drains then remove the thermostat. Then put a can of cooling system flush according to the directions on the can. Fill the cooling system with water and drive it for 15 or 20 miles.
Completely drain the system and fill it with fresh, clean water and drive it for a couple of miles to be sure you get all the flush chemicals out. Drain it again and refill with a new 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze.
