Additives Killed A Mazda 626

Q. Hello, Just wondering if you'd be able to help me before I donate my car. Okay, a month ago, I used, STP fuel injector cleaner, and RISOLINE® (to reduce grinding noise), in my 1988 Mazda 626. I poured both solutions to the car one after another. One in fuel tank, and one in motor oil. After then, my car does not even run idle.

Additives Killed A Mazda 626

When the RPM is less than 1,000. It just shuts off. I changed the battery, took it to two mechanics, no one can figure out what's wrong. I changed the motor oil. Nothing seems to help. Please let me know if you have any clue what's going on!?!

Thanks,
Jimmy

A. It would seem that one or the other additive did something to the engine. Since you put both in at the same time, who knows which is responsible. I guess the first thing I would do is put in a new fuel filter then fill the tank up with fresh gas and see what happens.

Run it until it is empty and fill it again. If the injector cleaner loosened up any crap it might be clogging an injector(s) and they will have to be replaced.

A compression test would be in order too. Based on the year and assuming it has high milage, the engine cleaner may have done it's work all too well and cleaned the engine to death. A wet/dry compression test will tell the story.
