Grand Cherokee P/S Leaking

Q. I found your site on the web. I got a 1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo (5.2 liter V-8) and I got a leak in my power steering. I'm trying to find the leak. I inspected the high pressure hose fittings on the reservoir and replaced them although the leak didn't look like it originated from there. Were else might the problem be?

The leak is bad enough I need to refill the reservoir after driving just a half tank of gas.

Thanks,
TB

A. There are not too many places where the power steering in your vehicle can leak. Usually they leak at the metal fittings where they join the rubber portion of the hose. But they can also leak anywhere in between the fittings. If there is a foam line protector on them, it will have to come off before you can spot the leak precisely.

If it is still difficult to find, I suggest an engine wash to clean everything off. Then let it idle while someone turns the wheel. The leak should be very easy to spot then.
