Ford Windstar Has Lean Banks
Q. Hello: My Check engine light recently illuminated. The OBD-II scan tool gives "Lean Bank 1" and "Lean Bank 2" codes. What troubleshooting sequence do you suggest? Fuel filter? Injectors? Fuel pressure regulator?
- 1999 Ford Windstar
- 3.8 liter
- Automatic transmission
- 70,000 miles
- Fuel Injection
Thanks in advance!
ChrisA. Basically the problem is the engine is running too lean. The most common cause of this is a vacuum leak. So, that would be the first thing to check for. I would also recommend replacing the fuel filter.
If the codes persist, then I would do a fuel pressure test and see what that tells me.
