Chevy Blazer Blowing Fuses
Q. I am blowing the brake/taillight fuse almost every time I step on the brake pedal. First it dims all of my lights like instrument lights and dome light then the fuse blows. I just replaced the brake tail light switch to no avail.
It is a 1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer, 4WD, 4.3 liter 6 cylinder engine.
I also followed any wiring to the brake pedal to make sure nothing was rubbing. Could my short be elsewhere. Don't know where to look next. Scary driving around with no brake lights.
A. Pretty sure that they wouldn't put the brake lights and tail lights on the same fuse. Make sure which one it is! Then pull off both tail light assemblies and see if any wires were pinched when the were bolted in. If you see nothing, try a new fuse and see if it blows. There could also be a wrong bulb in one of the sockets causing this. Also trailer hitch wiring is suspect if equipped.
