Pontiac 6000 Blower Motor

Q. Hi, The heater in the car is giving problems, but I think it's because the fan to distribute the heat has died. I'm still getting heat but the fan isn't pushing it. I think my best bet is to buy another motor for the fan but I have some concern as to how to change it.

When I lift up the hood it looks like the motor (or what looks like it) is on the far left (passenger) side, near the heat distribution channels. On the part that I think is the motor it has a french warning label that I can vaguely translate to be "Caution - Liquid Refrigeration System". How would I go about changing the motor, and if I do, am I at risk of spilling the fluid? Thanks a lot for your concern.

A. That label is referring to the sealed refrigeration system. You will not be opening the sealed system. There is a round bump with two wires plugged into it. Unplug the two wires, remove the 5-6 screws that hold the motor to the HVAC case and pull the motor out. Sometimes it won't clear something on the engine like the alternator. If so, you can loosen the upper motor mount struts and pull the engine forward to get it out.
