Ford Taurus Hub Bearing Q. I have a 1989 Ford Taurus with a bad CV joint and I need to know how to remove the hub bearing located in the spindle.

A. That bearing requires a few special tools to remove. Not the least of which is a 5-ton hydralic press to actually press the bearing in and out.

To remove the axle shaft and replace CV joints,you do not need to remove the wheel bearings.
