Lumina Voltage Regulator?
Q. Vince: I have a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina 4 door with 3.1 litre engine. I have noticed that the lights (including the digital clock display) pulsate after the car has been run for a while. Is this likely a voltage regulator problem or brushes in the alternator? Is the voltage regulator internal to the alternator on the Lumina?
A. Sounds like a voltage fluctuation problem. The regulator is inside the alternator and not serviceable. You must replace the alternator. You should test the electrical system with a volt and ammeter.
