Mercury Tracer No Start Q. Hi, I have a 1992 Mercury Tracer 1.8 liter DOHC. It has 194,000 miles. Automatic transmission, fuel injection, A/C and power steering. The problem is the check engine light came on then went out. It would flash and I assumed it corrected itself. When I parked it, it was running fine now it won't start.

The check engine light stays on when I turn on the key. It cranks fine but it acts like its not firing or maybe not getting fuel. any help would be appreciated.

A. There are a number of cause for the Check Engine light (MIL) to come on. The first thing to do is to pull the codes from the computer and see what they are.
