Mercury Tracer No Start

Q. Hi, I have a 1992 Mercury Tracer 1.8 liter DOHC. It has 194,000 miles. Automatic transmission, fuel injection, A/C and power steering. The problem is the check engine light came on then went out. It would flash and I assumed it corrected itself. When I parked it, it was running fine now it won't start.

Mercury Tracer No Start

The check engine light stays on when I turn on the key. It cranks fine but it acts like its not firing or maybe not getting fuel. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Al

A. There are a number of cause for the Check Engine light (MIL) to come on. The first thing to do is to pull the codes from the computer and see what they are. That will give us a starting point to begin. In my Troubleshooting section you will find instructions on how to pull the codes and what they mean..
