Volvo S-70 Soft Brake Pedal
Q. I have 1999 Volvo S-70. I had a brake job, new pads and the rotors cut. When I drove the car a few days I noticed that the brake pedal was not hard but felt as if there was air in the system. I have had the system bled four times at three to four day intervals and each time there is air in the rear brakes only. I have no indicator lights on the dash.
The pedal does not go to the floor when putting pressure on it. There are no apparent leaks and the fluid level never changes, it's topped off. Help! My mechanic has no idea what to do next.
Thank you,
BarryA. I would remove the two nuts holding the brake master cylinder to the brake booster and just pull it out and look behind it. It is possible the rear seal on the brake master cylinder is bad and if there is brake fluid in the brake booster, it's confirmed. You might also see a light trail of brake fluid running down the front of the brake booster.
