Mitsubishi Eclipse Heater Cable Q. The controls on my son's 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse will not open the vents for the defroster. I'm guessing a cable is bent because of the way it feels when you try to turn to the defrost setting, but cannot figure out how to get behind the panel. Please help! Pictures would be very appreciated. Frank...

A. I don't have any good pictures, but it is pretty simple. Around the center bezel there are four screws. Remove those and the center bezel will pop off. Now you will see the heater controls above the radio and there will be four screws holding it in. before you take it out, you have to disconnect all the cables from the parts they connect to. then you can remove the four screws and work the panel out.

If it is a bent cable, then you will need to buy the whole control head. Or if you can find a Mitsubishi tech who, like me, saved the good cables from bad control heads.
