Toyota Supra Taking On Water
Q. 1989 Toyota Supra. I have a leak that saturates the passenger floor board when it rains. I cannot locate the origin of the leak. The carpet is wet on the floor only, more so around the right front seat mount. The backing is damp on the slop from the front dash but appears to be wicking from lower section.
I have pulled the window molding and interior trim. I have pulled up the carpet and ran water over the vehicle but I cannot determine the location of the leak. Any advise you can offer will be appreciated.
A. There's not much I can do to help you with this one. You are going about locating the leak the same way i would. You will just have to keep stripping the area of the leak and hosing it down while you are inside with a flash light.
I have had water intrusions where I had to remove the entire dashboard to locate it. It's not easy and it's not fun. I would look for water stains and it's best to start looking high and working down. Be sure you check the evaporator case. The water may be coming in through the fresh air intake. Also, make sure the A/C drain is clear as well.
