Pontiac Grand Am No Start

Q. Hello, I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am GT, with close to 160, 000 miles on it. I have had it since it was brand new. Last year I had a new starter and a new battery put in it. It ran great until Friday 03/07/03. I was leaving the office when I went out to start it, it wouldn't turn over. The battery seemed fine, I tried a jump, still no luck.

Pontiac Grand Am No Start

When the tow truck came to pick it up, I found that I couldn't shift my car into neutral. As of right now, it is sitting at a garage waiting to be looked at. All I know is it won't start and I can't shift it, can you give me any idea what the cause(s) might be?

I know that there is a chance it is the transmission since it does have the higher mileage, I was just hoping that it there was also a chance that it could be a less complex/expensive fix.

Thanks...

A. Could be a bad battery, corrosion at a cable, bad starter, bad ignition switch, bad neutral safety switch, lots of things. I'm sure by the time you read this, you will be driving Miss Daisy home!
