Ford Aerostar 4x4 Light Flashing Q. Could you please tell me what seven flashes of the 4x4 dash light indicates? I have a 1992 Ford Aerostar AWD 4.0 liter with all recalls up to date, I hope!

A. Code 7 is "Clutch and rear sensor connectors and/or clutch coil and/or internal circuitry of sensors have discontinuity".

So here is the location of the connectors to check. If they are good, clean and tight I would then recommend a Ford dealer to check the Transfer Case Clutch Solenoid.

If you have any doubt about the applicable recalls having been done, and there were a few for your transfer case, the dealer can run your VIN number through Fords computers and see if there are any outstanding recalls.
