Dodge Avenger Dies, Hard Start
Q. I have a 1995 Dodge Avenger with 105,000 miles on it. For a few days now it has just been dying when I break to stop after about ten minutes of driving. On one occasion the car would not start for about an hour after dying but then it started as normal. I had a mechanic try to pull the codes at a non Dodge dealer and he found no codes.
Also the car tends to hesitate slightly when driving around 50-55 mph but not at other speeds. I have been told to check the fuel pump relay switch and the fuel filter. Do you have any other suggestions about what this could be. I read about TSB 08-31-95 could this also apply to the V-6 engine that I have in my car?
A. TSB 08-31-95, MIL ON Intermittently/Hard Start/No Start, would not apply to your vehicle.
The first thing I would suggest is to unplug the transmission connector and see if the problem disappears. If it does, then you probably have a bad Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid.
