Mercury Villager Airbag Light
Q. Hello, I have a 1996 Mercury Villager with 125,000 miles and just about every 30-40,000 mile the airbag light on the dash comes on and flashes until I take it to the dealer and get it reset for about $100.00 each visit. My Mercury Villager has the electronic instrument cluster.
Can I do the reset and if so how?
Thanks...
A. There was a TSB issued about this. It was TSB number 97-7-11 dated 03/31/97. From the bulletin:
Lamp - Air Bag Warning Lamp Flashes All The Time Or Intermittently - No Codes Stored In Memory.
LIGHT TRUCK:
1996-97 VILLAGERISSUE:
The air bag warning lamp may flash continuously and/or intermittently with either no codes or Code 11 stored in memory. This may be caused by a software calibration concern.ACTION:
Replace the air bag monitor with a new monitor.I would have your Ford Dealer check this out for you. The price of the module depends on the production date. Let's hope yours was built after July 1996.
