Camaro Nut Back Again

Q. I have a 1979 Chevy Camaro 350 4bbl, Muncie 4-speed, with pos. trac., and a 86 Chevy Cavalier with a 2.8 FI. Oh by the way the help with the carburetor problems, Thank you. My Ol' Camaro is purring, but I have a problem with both of my cars and its becoming a nightmare. I live in the mountains, and work in a valley, (step hills to climb).

Both of my cars heat up and come close to over heating, when I'm cruising these hills. In the Cavalier all I have to do is turn the A/C off, but in the Camaro, I have to turn the heater on, slow down to about 50, and pray it doesn't get to hot. The Camaro also on flat ground doing about 90 will start to heat up bad also.

Both cars have new thermostats, water pump, radiator cored, and fluids flushed. but they still heat up, and every time I come back from work I risk hurting my cars. Hopefully you have an idea. Oh and I pulled the thermostat out of the Cavalier to help with the hills so it takes longer to heat up.

Thanks,
Camaro Nut from Tehachapi
(Third letter, and hopefully last, you helped out great)

A. You may help the Camaro with a new fan. One of those flex jobs with more blades may help. Also make sure the fan shroud is there. Make sure there is a good mixture of coolant in the system. There is also a additive out there called MotorMax. It's supposed to help in overheating engines.

The Cavalier has an electric fan, maybe it's not working? Timing also makes a car run hotter if it's too far advanced.
